On the 15th August 2009 Telnic Ltd, the registry operator for the .tel domain extension announced that they will shortly be delivering a new solution for text-based advertising listings, enabling .tel domain owners to use more traditional and measurable methods of making money from their domain names.
The communications focused .tel domain name whilst providing a new way of generating revenue via the support and optimaisation of premium rate telephone numbers, software downloads, ringtones and competition based formats has recognized that those users used to using traditional monetization methods still feel somewhat restricted. Henri Asseily, CTO and Chief Strategist at Telnic Ltd stated that thorough the planned release Telnic have therefore enabled .tel domain owners to include clearly identifiable, text based advertising links. This way Telnic are able to maintain the clear purpose of using a .tel as a single point of contact, whilst also meeting the requirements for monetization across all Interent – enabled devises.
